Nigeria is supposedly a rich country but bad governance and corruption has turned her citizens into peasants. About 70% of Nigerians live below the poverty line, living on about one dollar a day in a country that is the seventh oil producing country in the world. Corruption has permeated the country to such an extent that young girls have become the latest victims of sex abuse by rich predators that use them to gratify their sexual desires. The result has been increase not only on early pregnancies and unwed mothers but also of HIV victims. The southern part of Kaduna State and the Middle Belt is said to have very high cases of HIV/AIDS. Poverty is said to be the main factor in this area.

The Women Development Center emancipates and empowers young women who have been forced into prostitution, early school dropout due to early pregnancies or are living with HIV/AIDS to have a life of hope and become independent. It also helps young women who have finished high school and who are unable to further their education or find jobs through a job skills training program. Through the center, young women are trained and provided with vocational skills that will help them to be self-employed through a special loan scheme. The BEGE Continuation School Project and Women Vocational Center will provide school dropouts and unwed mothers Childcare while they are in school. For those who chose not to return to school, the Vocational Center will provide training for independent living and self-employment through vocational education Family life education and healthy child-rearing practices, HIV/AIDS awareness education and a woman right to education and protection will be is a main goal for of this program.
