CHAD The State of Christianity
A good proportion of the population in Chad is Christian but they are largely illiterates. The Muslims who dominate the country politically, economically and to some extent religiously marginalize the Christians. This country has the highest percentage of least reached peoples group in Africa.
Political Climate The northern Muslim dominates politically in a country with a succession of military government since 1979. In-fighting within the northern Muslims for control of political power have not permitted the entrenchment of democratic values in the life of the people.
Economic Situation Chad is very backward industrially. The people depend on subsistence economy. It is a very poor country. Drought and little rainfall are greatest economic challenge.
Religious Tolerance There is religious freedom in Chad but the Muslims are mostly favoured.
